Our client, Bullion Dealers, approached us back in January 2022 with a request – to help him generate online leads and optimize his business website for both users and search engine bots. Since it is exactly what our EXPERTISE is, so we didn’t think twice and arranged a meeting over a zoom call. And what followed after that is all we’ll discuss in this case study. 

 

Splendour Group has been doing overall SEO for the Bullion Dealers for six months now. But here in this case study, we will mainly focus on Google Business Profile or GMB, which increased leads by 100% in 5 months. Bullion Dealers is a family-owned and operated business in the United States that has been passed down the generations. With decades of experience and extensive knowledge of physical gold and silver investment products, the company has been ruling its local market for a long time now.

Our SEO Strategies and Their Outcomes

We began with on-page SEO first, optimized the contents around keywords with high search volumes, redesigned webpages, and structured URLs, added new elements on the site to enhance user experience, optimized media files, and so on.

We gradually started doing off-page SEO alongside on-page/on-site SEO. Business Process Mapping (BPM)

Knowing that business process mapping is an essential part of running an efficient business, we began our project with it. The BPM took place in a series of team meetings comprising of team members including Swadesh Baniya (the CEO of InfoTechs Nepal), designated SEO specialists, the marketing team, and developers.

During the business mapping sessions, we discussed how to sequentially carry out the project, brainstormed the business plan of action, assigned roles and responsibilities to respective teams, set a time frame for the completion of each task, and so on.

Branding

Following Business mapping, we hopped on to business branding. Thorough market research is what saved us from getting lost in the sea of information and we were able to create an impactful business branding strategy. Further, through our smart approach and more market research, we were able to figure out our business competitors and our target audiences.

After finalizing the business logo, we began introducing our brands on different social media platforms. Facebook being the most used social media site in Nepal was our first choice for online business branding.

Our first event in branding was a business opening giveaway that was moderately successful. Regardless of that, we didn’t stop and continued working and coming up with victorious events and the most in-demand content in the market.

It took a good time of 3-4 months before our brand could solidify its presence and compete with other established brands. Our consistent efforts, hard work, and dedication indeed played a huge role in helping us build our brand image and reach more audiences with time. Gaining customer trust was never easy and it still is not. We’re perpetually working to break new ground and sustain the business.

After Facebook, we gradually moved on to create our brand profiles on different social websites and are still building branding strategies and executing them effortlessly for our welfare.

Website Development

Next, we carried out website designing and development planning in coordination with developers and SEOs. In this phase, the team discussed the best development and SEO practices, filtered the best choices, and moved on to build the e-commerce website on the WordPress platform. The website was launched with a few essential pages (with basic optimization) a month from the date of planning.

We still perform changes on the site every week to ensure that the website contents are well optimized and up to date. Having developed the website on WordPress, it has become easier to make changes on the site without needing regular assistance from the developer.

Search Engine Optimization

Google never fails to startle SEOs and marketers with its new algorithm update every other month. While most of the changes do not significantly change the SEO landscape, some of them are noteworthy and may require SEOs to tighten their belts.

Keeping that in mind, we at Splendour Group periodically look at the overall website health of each and every client and practice SEO strategies that comply with the Google algorithm.

Talking particularly about InfoTechs Nepal, our on-page SEO work started even before the site was live. We analyzed certain checkpoints including URL optimization, content optimization, and image optimization during that phase.

After launching the business website, we went on to add new content and products week by week.

With our exceptional white hat SEO practices, including on-page, off-page, and technical SEO strategies, we have been able to get more than 200 pages indexed on Google. In addition to that, our efforts and SEO tactics have produced more conversions and high revenue for the business.

We were able to produce a total of 141K clicks, 3.29M impressions, 4.3% CTR, and a 14.5 average position in the last three months.

It was challenging to yield this exceptional result, and we faced big issues during the journey. The most significant one being the Keyword Cannibalization issue. In simple words, multiple pages on the site targeted the same keyword and competed against each other for ranking on the SERPs which was ultimately not good for the website.

Our primary focus always is and should be to compete with other domains. Keyword cannibalization is something that demolishes a website, and if not fixed in time, this issue can dilute organic traffic and the ranking of the site.

By the end of December 2021, we had recognized the problem and had begun working on it. We started looking for fresh keywords and consolidated most of the affected content. By the end of April 2022, the problem was almost fixed, and the result is now in front of us!

Social Media Marketing (SMM)

Social Media Marketing is one of Nepal’s best branding and online marketing mediums. For InfoTechs Nepal’s Social Media Marketing, we mainly use two platforms viz, Facebook and Instagram. We strategically chose these mediums for SMM because of the fact that these two social platforms are the ones Nepali audiences are most active on.

Internal Linking Strategy

 

We all know how Google treats internal linking and its significance. A website needs to maintain a proper internal linking structure to build its authority.

 

Internal Links are one of the most important ranking factors for Google because external links may or may not exist for large web pages.

 

Moreover, internal links provide access to similar content that might interest visitors. Also, Internal linking assures that the website’s web pages follow a similar niche.

 

But, it’s also crucial that internal linking is relevant. If you link two different pages with no relation, that’s the worst.

Technical SEO

On our client website, there were so many technical errors. For example, the page speed was slower, which led visitors to bounce back from the page. In addition, the correct schemas were not present in the content. Here are a few points that we worked on to meet the client’s requirements.

 

Sitemap

 

A sitemap is an essential factor that helps websites rank higher in SERPs. A well-structured sitemap is a crucial requirement for any website. XML sitemaps make it easy for a web page to discover and navigate content. We worked on the client’s sitemap issue and submitted it to Google Search Console.

 

Schema

 

Schema helps generate rich snippets so that the web pages appear more importantly in SERP. While many websites tend to ignore working on Schema as they do not directly contribute to the rankings, a study showed they largely helped improve click-through rates.

 

Similarly, we also worked on a proper schema implementation in the relevant content. While working with schema can get messy as you’ll need to mark every individual item within the web page, we cannot ignore its pros.

 

Core Web Vitals

 

Core Web Vitals are a set of standard metrics that helps Google analyze user experience. There are many metrics, but three metrics usually define core web vitals: page load performance, ease of interaction, and visual stability of a page.

 

Our team worked on the minor details to increase the user stability on the page. In addition, we increased the website’s page speed by compressing the images, removing the unnecessary stylesheet, and optimizing the code to minimize server load time. These minor details added to the client’s expectations and helped gain more visitors.

 

Robots.txt

 

Robots.txt gives instructions to search engine crawlers not to search certain areas. You can exclude areas, directories, or entire domains from robots’ access using the robots.txt file.

 

Usually, in an e-commerce website, you do not want user sessions that store credentials to be crawled. Also, you can check if there’s anything included in the text that needs to be crawled. Therefore, we checked and maintained our client robots.txt file to maintain the website’s integrity.

 

Responsiveness

 

As of September 2020, Google prioritizes the mobile version of the websites when crawling them. Therefore, it is essential to maintain the responsiveness of the page.

 

We worked on the images and infographics optimization, designed a suitable theme and layout, maintained typography, added necessary menus and widgets, and added important functionality to enhance the website’s responsiveness further.

 

Implementing strategy To Improve EAT Score

 

Although the EAT is not considered a ranking factor for Google, it evaluates the page’s overall quality.

The Vicinity update was introduced to make the search results more relevant. Before this update, businesses heavy on inappropriate keywords could rank farther than their actual location. So to help small businesses be noticeable in the market, Google readjusted its algorithm to help them rank higher than big businesses. 

 

The algorithm caused widespread ranking disruption in some industries more than others, the real estate industry being one of them. 

 

In this case study, we have addressed issues encountered during this update by one of our clients from the real estate industry and how we helped them regain their ranking on the local SERPs and outperform competitors with our winning local SEO strategies.

Background

OKC Home Realty Services, LLC is a trustable property management firm in Oklahoma City. We have built their website, ensuring it is SEO friendly & user friendly and meets the global standards. 

Along with the website development, we’re also performing the business’s overall SEO, including on-site SEO, link building, local SEO, and technical SEO.

During the roll of Vicinity Update, we started encountering significant changes by the end of November. The changes included a decline in total calls, website visits, direction requests, and impressions. Proximity in SEO denotes the physical nearness of potential customers from the business or to the business. We ensured that our client’s GBP showed up in reasonable local searches for relevant keywords through proximity push. 

CID or Customer Identification Manipulation is the tactic used to connect different views of business listings. Google assigns a unique ID to each business entity and helps cluster business information across GBP and Google Maps Products. We manipulate this ID with our primary keyword and geo coordinates to signal the Google algorithm about the business presence in that specific geo coordinates.

Through silo push, we created a series of images, infographics, videos, and blog articles for centralized landing pages covering particular topics. This helped the client’s business website get higher rankings on business keywords. We further moved on and tuned/optimized all the GBP contents. 

Likewise, we used Google’s authoritative SEO strategy, Google Stacking, to build high authority backlinks on several Google platforms and optimized GBP Service pages, descriptions, product pages, and business sites with business-related keywords & LSIs (search terms related to the main keyword you’re targeting). 

Last but not least, we created local business citations on high DA-PA websites on alternative days.
